Songs for Themed CDs

And I definitely think we should do some kind of thing to make CD's for each other and then mail them out. I know you mentioned this sometime before, Brynn. So, maybe we can have some sort of Pollyanna deal, where we make a CD for someone else in a theme. I don't know. I've obviously been drinking some wine so I don't really know if I know what I'm talking about.

Some suggested ideas:

prom themes
80s
90s
movie soundtracks
songs from places
artists with a number in the name
songs with food
double entendres (leave me out of that one. I suck at those)

I am sure I'll think of more, but my brain is on hiatus. sorry

I was thinking of seeing if anyone else would be interested in some sort of exchange program, too.

Did you ever visit the Fametracker forums before they closed? Because they had a thread in the music section that did this sort of thing. It's been a loooong time since I've participated in anything like this, but I think I can explain the gist of how it worked. (For anyone in the know, it would be like a fic exchange, basically.)

Basically, there was one person in charge of collecting info needed (ie, name, address, anything else needed, maybe some musical preferences) from the people willing to participate each month or two months or whatever. There would be a deadline for signing up, and then after that, the person in charge would email out assignments. Once you got your assignment, you'd create a CD - any theme you wanted - and send it off to your assignee. It's really fun, and it's always a really cool way to discover awesome new music. If anyone is interested, I'm more than happy to organize something like that. It's a really cheap (cost of CD, jewel case, and postage - 3 bucks?) to get a bunch of music.

As for other themes: days of the week, time, road trip classics, artists from certain regions or countries, pretty much endless. Hell, if it is just you and I shipping CDs back and forth, I'm game for that even! :)

PS...How's getting AIM coming?

it's me but I don't feel like logging in. I'm down for whatever. I know there is so much music out there that I don't know, but I would like.

It sounds like a fun idea to me. I never really went to Fametracker. Maybe once or twice, but never visited the forums. I was just getting the gist of what forums were from TWoP.

I'll do AIM tonight, I promise. And I'll shoot everyone an email to let them know.

Yeah, it's fun. It's like Secret Santa all year round.

And serious YAY for you getting AIM!

That would be fun! I love making CDs for other people. Though my taste in music is questionable.

By the way, how do I sign up for that community? I'm so lost :(
